Hello, I have a question and a request.    Is it possible to only HDR selective parts of a photo.  For instance   select item in Photoshop, copy  and save.  run through photomatixs and reinsert.?

You'd have to create your own exposures using settings and sliders, but could it be done with nice results.

The easier way is to tone map the image several times. For each one just concentrate on the part of the image you want. Then use layers to blend each of those into a single final frame. This is the same techniques some people use when there is movement between images. Use just one of the images to blend back in the moving parts.

Hope that helps.

Selections work in Photoshop 32bitHDR.  So yes, you can make a conservative adjustment for the image, then select a point of interest and apply a different adjustment to it.  You can even use the Photomatix plug in, or make a layered image in 32bitHDR in Photoshop.
